GARY, Ind. — The American Association announced on Tuesday morning that Gary SouthShore RailCats right-handed pitcher Charle Rosario has been named to the AA All-Star Team for the second straight season. The team’s starting position players and designated hitter were voted upon by the league’s field managers while the pitchers and reserves were selected by AA All-Star game manager Rick Forney.

“Charle is definitely deserving of the recognition and continues to be at the top of his profession,” said RailCats manager Greg Tagert. “Charle’s a very special individual and we couldn’t be more proud of what he’s accomplished both on and off the field.”

Rosario is 5-3 on the season with a 3.26 ERA in a league-high-tying 11 starts. The two-time All-Star is also second in the league in innings pitched (69) and fifth in the league in strikeouts (57). Rosario has recorded the win in his last three starts, posting a 2.86 ERA and 11 strikeouts during that span.

Rosario led the league in 2016 with 24 starts and finished with a team-high 11 wins, four complete games, 155.1 innings pitched and 120 strikeouts. In last year’s All-Star game, Rosario tossed a scoreless third inning for the winning North All-Star team. Rosario began his career with Gary in 2015, finishing the season 12-8 with a 3.81 ERA in a team-high 22 starts.

The All-Star Game between the American Association and Can-Am League is on Tuesday, July 25 at 7:05 p.m. in Ottawa, ON, CA.

Gary continues their seven-game homestand on Wednesday night at 7:10 p.m. vs. Fargo-Moorhead. Two-time All-Star Rosario (5-3, 3.26) counters against RedHawks right-hander Jose Almarante (2-3, 5.03) in the rubber game of the series.
