RailCats re-sign former MLB pitcher De Leon

GARY, Ind. — The Gary SouthShore RailCats announced the re-signing of right-handed relief pitcher Jorge De Leon and placed right-hander reliever Joe Hauser on waivers. Before getting waived on June 23rd, De Leon was 4-1 a 2.40 ERA and a team-best four saves in 12 appearances.

De Leon began his RailCats career in 2016, going 0-2 with a 1.70 ERA and a team-high 11 saves in 21 relief outings. De Leon is the only former MLB player on the RailCats roster after spending parts of the 2013 and 2014 seasons with the Houston Astros. De Leon finished without a record and a 4.91 ERA in eight relief outings in his final stint in the Majors back in 2014. De Leon made his MLB debut the year before, finishing the season with 11 total relief appearances.

In two separate stints with Gary, Hauser finished without a record and a 3.12 ERA. Hauser signed his first professional contract with the RailCats on June 17th and made his pro debut on June 18th in Nebraska vs. the Lincoln Saltdogs.

Gary continues their seven-game homestand on Tuesday night at 6:10 p.m. vs. Fargo-Moorhead. Southpaw Braulio Torres-Perez (4-1, 4.40) faces right-hander Zach Prendergast (2-3, 5.03) in the middle game of the series.
