St. Paul, MN—The Gary SouthShore RailCats announced on Friday that the team has re-signed left-handed pitcher Joe Hauser and waived right-handed pitcher Westin Wuethrich.
Hauser, 23, appeared in one game with the RailCats during his first stint with the ballclub on June 18 against Lincoln. He pitched 4.2 innings; giving up one earned run, three hits, and struck out three, while walking two.
Prior to his first stint in Gary, Hauser pitched collegiately at Angelo State University. During his senior season, he went 2-1 with a 3.04 ERA and a team-high 14 saves in 29 appearances in 50.1 innings. Hauser struck out 34 batters and just walked nine.
Wuethrich, 22, has made three starts since signing with Gary. He has no record, struck out three, and walked five in 9.1 innings pitched. Prior to joining the RailCats, Wuethrich played collegiately at Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Gary returns home to U.S. Steel Yard on Monday, July 3rd for the start of a seven-game homestand. Monday’s game vs. Fargo-Moorhead is at 7:10 p.m. and is another MetroPCS Monday. Monday’s series opener against the RedHawks is also the inaugural Fourth of Juluau Pig Roast, presented by Berey Bros., and features Fireworks and Barefoot Hawaiian Fire Dancers.
