Marcos Galvão

Galvão, born in Brazil, started his MMA career in 2003 when he was awarded his black belt, and shortly after he started pursuing a career in mixed martial arts full-time.

After a strong start fighting in organizations like Shooto and traveling to Japan where he secured wins that carried him to the WEC (considered at the time a solid organization in MMA), Galvão lost two fights on a row at the WEC.

That was when his good friend Vitor Ribeiro invited Galvão to come to New York and start training with him. After the move, Galvão was successful from the outset in the United States, amounting wins in Washington Combat and the Ring of Combat, where he won the Featherweight championship title.

After a few injuries, including facing-off against one of his teammates, and deciding to change teams due to training difficulties, Galvão resurrected his career and defeated Joe Warren, earning the Bellator Bantamweight title to solidify his dominance in the MMA sport.

Galvão, who fights out of Long Island MMA, is a veteran of the Bellator organization. After losing to Joe Warren via unanimous decision in 2011, Galvão got his revenge with a win to take home the gold in May of 2015, getting the verbal submission from Warren in the second round.

Galvão, 34, is 18-7 in his MMA career. After winning four fights in a row, capped off by his bantamweight championship, Galvão suffered a loss in June on Bellator 156. The Brazilian was defeated via unanimous decision by Eduardo Dantas.

In his last t fight, Galvão defeated L.C. Davis on Bellator 166 on Friday, December 2 via split decision.
