The boys are back in town. 

Team 91's 2020 Orange team opens up its summer slate this weekend at the Long Island Lax Fest, annually the biggest lacrosse event on Long Island. For a lot of the team's players, it's their first club summer after playing major roles for their high school teams this spring. Take Cory Capri, for example. The X attackman from John Glenn broke out as a sophomore, posting a 65-point campaign and emerging as one of the team's leaders. 

"I definitely had to take a leadership role on my team," Capri said. "We didn't have the best record, but I was able to put up 65 points. I think I have quick moves at X to turn the corner and finish, but also good vision with lots of cross-crease looks. I definitely want to become more of a threat every time I touch the ball. I want to always be a threat to score and open up defenses. I like quarterbacking the offense, because the offense runs through you. It's great to have the control and the trust from my coaches and teammates."

Father-son dynamic

Capri hasn't had to go far to get good coaching, either. His father, Jeff, is the 2020 Orange head coach, and if all goes well, they'll be chasing a championship together on Father's Day. The father-son coaching dynamic has helped the two forge a strong bond together, and Cory always knows that he's got someone right there to help develop his game. 

"It's nice to play in a tournament on Father's Day. He definitely likes that," the younger Capri said. "He knows a lot about the game and it's very helpful. He helps me get better, especially when we can go in the backyard and practice."

Big things ahead

Capri also plays football, where's a wide receiver and cornerback. He considers himself a better cornerback, and got called up to the varsity for John Glenn's playoff run. He also played basketball until last year, where, as a point guard, he got to see the floor from a similar way that he sees the field at X. 2020 Orange opens its summer with an 11:05 game against Seven Hills White on Saturday morning, and Capri thinks that his team is one that can put together an impressive summer. 

"I think we have a high chance to win any tournament that we're in," Capri explained. "We'll see when we get there, but we have a lot of potential. I'm very excited. We have a good schedule this weekend and I think we can have a lot of success."
