OHIO UNIVERSITY’S WOMEN IN SPORTS
Sports Administration Program Launches New Organization

Ohio University’s Sports Administration Program is proud to announce the launch of a new organizational initiative: Ohio University’s Women in Sports.  Led by current second-year student Marissa Tebeau (‘15), the goal of Women in Sports is to enrich the student experience of females interested in the sports industry.  With Ohio University alumnae currently working in various positions throughout the sports industry, Women in Sports will carry on a tradition of supporting the professional growth of women.

“I believe that Women in Sports will provide an incredible opportunity for Ohio University women to network with and support each other as they embark on their journeys into a career in sports,” said the 2012 Distinguished Alumnus Allison Kelly (‘97). “Supporting women’s initiatives within the region through volunteering and fundraising efforts, shows true resourcefulness and dedication to what this group believes in.”

Women in Sports is in the process of applying to become an official chapter of Women In Sports and Events (WISE). WISE, a national organization located in major cities around the country, serves as the leading voice and resource for professional women in the sports and events industry.  The mission of WISE is to “create and support programs that enhance the success and growth of women in the sports and events industry.”

Women in Sports creates a unique platform for undergraduate and graduate students at Ohio University. This platform will promote professional development and networking opportunities between current students, alumni and the Athens community,” said Jim Kahler, Executive Director for the Center of Sports Administration.

Ohio University’s Women in Sports has several events and initiatives planned throughout the year, including:

•    Habitat for Humanity Athens Build
•    Lady Cats Flag Football League – proceeds to Athens Women’s Health Fund
•    Word To The Wise Workshops, panels and other networking opportunities
•    Exclusive webinars  (invitation to extend to all female alumnae)
•    Events in conjunction with WISE-Cleveland

Women in Sports is excited to continue the strong tradition of developing young professionals at Ohio University. If you are interested in connecting with Women in Sports (mentorship, workshops, webinars, etc) please contact Marissa Tebeau at [email protected].
