Mary Pink

Associate Athletics Director for Marketing Promotions
Iowa State Athletics Department

Mary Pink oversees all marketing efforts including branding, ticket sales, advertising, event management, gameday atmosphere, promotional strategies, merchandise, licensing, special events, and graphic design.

Under her direction, the athletics department has hit many new milestones including breaking several football and men’s basketball season ticket sales records, secured 12 straight home football crowds of 50,000 or more for the first time in the history of the program, and football average attendance reached a new all-time high in over 30 years.  In addition, women’s basketball has continuously been in the top ten nationally in attendance for the past 10 years.

Pink has also developed many programs to help foster game atmosphere, fan support and branding during her tenure. She started the basketball student spirit group, Cyclone Alley which boasts 3,500 members and the Jr. Cyclone Club, kid’s club that has doubled its membership in less than two years to now over 5,500 members.  She created and implemented the first football throwback game for Iowa State and helped to develop ISU’s rebranding efforts in creating new primary and secondary marks for the department.

Pink began her career at ISU in 1995 as an assistant marketing director.  She served in that position until she was promoted to marketing manager in 1996.  She was then named director of marketing in 1998, assistant athletics director in 2005 and then named to her current role of associate athletics director in 2008.

Pink is a part of several boards including the National Sports Forum Steering Committee, National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) Board and NCAA Football Marketing Committee.

Pink graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in Communication and received her master’s degree from Iowa State in Higher Education. She and her husband, Kenny have a daughter, Addison, 12 and a son Wyatt, 10.
