2006-07 Season

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Sorry for taking so long to release this. It's been a hectic couple of weeks of traveling.
The WSHL Championship event was a huge success, and the Rhinos did an outstanding job hosting it. I would like to thank Cory and all of his staff for a terrific event. I would also like to thank Ron Handy, Jim McKain, John Hosty and Julie Wilson for helping to represent the WSHL at the event.
Each year we chose an all - league team for the event, and those players are:
Robert Vulaj -
Phoenix Forward
Blake Barkwell -
Phoenix Forward
Drew Riccio -
Phoenix Goalie
Marcus Wilhite -
El Paso Forward
Jamie Davis -
Phoenix Forward
Tad Norris - El Paso Defense
Chris Walker -
Phoenix Defense
Jordan Yindiphol -
Phoenix Defense
Both Phoenix and
El Paso participated competitively at Nationals. Going into the 3rd game of the round robin both teams were looking good for a semi final berth as long as something crazy didn't happen. Well crazy happened in
El Paso 's division. The St. Louis Jr. Blues needed to win by 10 goals to knock
Phoenix out of the semi finals, which they did win 11-1 vs. the Jr. Bruins.
El Paso needed to beat Suffolk PAL, but ran out of gas midway through the game.
In the end both
Phoenix and
El Paso got an early ride home.
Besides being very competitive, both team were extremely professional in their participation at the event, both at the rink and hotel. I can't say enough about the positive representation both teams served on behalf of the WSHL. I stayed at the same hotel as both teams, same floor, etc., and had numerous opportunities to meet with the players, and I can't say enough about how polite and well behaved the players were.
Well the season is officially over, more to come in 07-08. We will have a conference call next week. Be making plans for your tryouts. The WSHL Annual Meeting will be May 15-17 in
Las Vegas .
Cordially,
Ron
