The Rhinos will take the ice on October 26, 27 and 28 for their first division home game of the season!
They will face off against the Wichita Thunder, who, like the Rhinos, have only played one series to date. In Colorado, the Thunder took on the Steamboat Wranglers and dropped the first two games. In game three, they forced overtime but still fell by a score of 7-6.
While Wichita has had a rough start to the season, El Paso commenced the season by sweeping the Dallas Snipers. In game one, the Rhinos scored nine goals and held the Snipers to only three points. During games two and three, Rhino netminder Nils Velm posted shutouts, keeping Dallas scoreless for 120 straight minutes.
Fortunately, the Rhinos’ early success has been due to a solid foundation of eight returning players: Adam Stalzer, Chaseton Sare, JC Dubecky, Maguire Blair, Max Kamper, Kayden Pickles, Ty Erramouspe, and Donald Alchin. They have also added players from Sweden, Germany, the Czech Republic, four Canadian provinces, and seven states. As the team works toward one win at a time, they hope to keep the Thorne Cup in Rhino Country and earn back to back championship titles.
For the first two games of the series this weekend, the Rhinos will be clad in baseball jerseys that will be auctioned off following Saturday’s game. The Team will also recognize youth baseball players from the Southwest Baseball League during each game. Popular promotions like Jerseys off Our Backs, Hot Diggity Dog, and Miller Lite Scorer of the Game will be back as well!
The puck will drop at 7 pm on Friday and Saturday and at 4:30 pm on Sunday at the El Paso County Coliseum Events Center (4100 E. Paisano). Tickets start at $5 and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com or by calling the El Paso County Coliseum Box Office at 915-533-9899.
