With just a month until players arrive in the Sun City for the upcoming season, the Rhinos are installing a new shot system that will help players improve reception, reaction time as well as shot accuracy and speed.
"RapidShot is a patented hockey training system that automatically passes and collects pucks. There are 8 pass speeds and intervals for all skill levels to train snap shot, wrist shot, backhand and one-timers. RapidShot is the only professional shooting system in the world that measures accuracy, shot speed and reaction time, leading the way in hockey skills training and analytics."
Some of the nation’s top professional and college hockey programs like the Pittsburgh Penguins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, the University of Notre Dame and the Ohio State University have adopted the training program. Anaheim Ducks forward, US Olympian and Selke Trophy winner Ryan Kesler explains, “RapidShot has helped not only my shot accuracy but also my reaction time. There is nothing out there like this..."
Each player is given a personalized stat card that he or she swipes before the session. After choosing from four different modes, the player will shoot at digital mat with target areas marked by different colors. An instant before each pass reaches the player's stick, the shooting target will light up. The player’s goal is to receive the puck and, as quickly and accurately as possible, hit the designated corner. Once the session has ended, players can log onto the internet and see their results, with details including speed, reaction time, points, hit rates for each target and World Rankings status.
Complementing traditional on-ice practices, the RapidShot Hockey Training System can pass up to 800 pucks per hour and give feedback on every shot. Without spending time on collecting pucks, players can have an efficient session with immediate feedback. Instantaneous stats motivate players to improve their numbers and will give them the confidence to make in-game plays in tough situations.
With the RapidShot incorporated into the Rhinos’ daily training routine, the team hopes to increase their offensive power. Having access to state of the art equipment like RapidShot and the skating treadmill at the Rhinos Training Center will give players every opportunity to improve their game.
