The Rhinos fell to the flight of the Colorado Eagles in the first night of the Western States Hockey League (WSHL) showcase on Saturday night.
Near the sixteen minute mark of the first period, Colorado’s John Tower scored first, giving the Eagles a one goal lead. Over eight minutes later, Alex Johanson, with Evan Camba and Jesse Vuorinen on the assists, evened the game at one. Carter Dahl, however, answered back with a shorthanded goal, and the Eagles went into the locker room with a 2-1 lead over the Rhinos.
Adam Wammes forced a two goal deficit upon the Rhinos when he scored eight minutes into the second period. Jesse Vuorinen netted a goal for the Rhinos thanks to fellow forwards, Evan Camba and Phil Pugliese. Shortly thereafter, Evan Camba followed up his assist with his own goal and the Rhinos evened the score for the second time. Ultimately, Colorado’s Andre Piquette would have the final tally as he netted the game winning goal with just over eleven minutes remaining in the second half.
The Rhinos look to halt their three game losing streak as they take on the Idaho Steelheads tomorrow at 6 pm (MT).
