The Southern Oregon Spartans could not hold off the strong stampede of the Rhinos on Monday night at WSHL Showcase.
Spartan Michael Proskos, managed to slip one past El Paso netminder Tymen Edelkoort III and snag the first lead of the game. As Oregon sat with a 1-0 lead, Alex Johanson put up a point for the Rhinos just over a minute later. The WSHL’s leader in scoring, Chris Seto, found the net with just over three minutes left in the first half, giving Southern Oregon the lead.
Almost immediately into the second half of the game El Paso’s Drake Cartwright earned his fourteenth goal of the season and tied the game. As Edelkoort and the Rhinos’ defense held Southern Oregon to two goals, Brody Surette, with the help of fellow defenseman Simon Hobbis, gave El Paso the lead for the first time of the game. Chaseton Sare earned the Rhinos’ fifth and final tally. Managing a come from behind win, the Rhinos eclipsed Southern Oregon with a final score of 5-2 in their third game of the Western States Shootout.
