The Rhinos stampeded over the Oilers on the second night of the Rhinos and Oilers series, Friday afternoon.
The first period consisted of the normal rack of saves and impressive teamwork on the ice from both teams. Rhino, Alex Johanson, was called out on the ice for a minor roughing penalty right before Tulsa scored the first goal of the afternoon. El Paso was not going to let the Oilers 1-0 lead stand for long as 6 minutes later, the Rhinos managed to tie the scoreboard 1-1. With just over 3 minutes left into the game, Ty Erramouspe, David Chachalak, Simon Hobbis worked together to give the Rhinos at 2-1 lead at the end of the first period.
Almost instantly after the second period began, the Oilers’ Augusts Veidenbaums, Conor Dempsey, and Deniss Berbniks tied the game at 2-2. Shortly thereafter Niko Walsh, Oiler teammate, obtained a minor roughing penalty giving way to another Rhino goal. At this point in the game, El Paso snatched another lead in the hockey game. Aleksandr Timchenko worked alongside his teammates to not only get the lead but maintain the lead skating off the ice to conclude the second period with 4-2.
During the third period, Tulsa closed the Rhinos gap bringing the score 4-4 before the Rhinos clenched a win. However, the Rhinos’ additional 5 goals allowed El Paso to win with a final score of 9-6.
