CRESTWOOD - The Windy City ThunderBolts mascot Boomer has a really big heart, and it showed on July 6th at Standard Bank Stadium. Boomer raffled off his beloved skateboard to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Boomer sold raffle tickets at Windy City ThunderBolts games for two weeks leading up to the 6th, when he picked the winning ticket. After all the tickets were counted, and all the donations were tallyed up, Boomer raised a total of $1080.00 to go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The lucky winner of Boomer's beloved skateboard was Bob Sandrik. Boomer hand-delivered the board to Sandrik, who was very surprised that he had won.
Boomer will use a small portion of the proceeds to buy a new skateboard, but for now he will be getting around Standard Bank Stadium on a pogo stick.
