Suns Batter Bravehearts

Pittsfield, MA - It was not the Bravehearts’ night Wednesday against the Pittsfield Suns, falling by the score 9-4 at Wahconah Park in Pittsfield.

The Suns got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning, when Matt Malcom crushed a solo home run to left field. After loading the bases again, the Suns broke it open with a Bryce Osmond grand slam to make it 5-0 Pittsfield.

Pittsfield scratched across another run in the bottom of the fourth when Andrew Hernandez doubled to score Bryce Osmond. The Suns scored another run in the seventh and two more in the eighth to add even more insurance to their lead.

Worcester made it a game again when they scored four runs in the top of the fifth, capped off by a booming home run to dead center field by Mack Cheli, his first of the season. Of the five hits Cheli now has this season, four of them have been for extra bases.

Earning the win for Pittsfield was Mike Nocchi. He gave up four runs and six hits over six innings, striking out four and walking only one. Bravehearts starter Evan Moore took the loss for Worcester, giving up six earned runs on seven hits in four innings, striking out four.

Pittsfield moves up to 10-6 with the win, while the loss drops Worcester to 6-8.

The Bravehearts next play on the road Thursday against the Bristol Blues, and their next game at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field meeting will be this Sunday against the North Short Navigators.
