REVS EARN WIN IN SLUGFEST

(July 13, 2019 – York, Pa.):  The York Revolution offense took flight again with another big performance, bashing the High Point Rockers 13-7 in front of 6,312 fans at PeoplesBank Park on Saturday night.  The Revs improve to 2-0 in the second half and have won 11 of their last 12, while claiming a ninth straight series win.  York will go for the sweep on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The High Point offense got going early against York starter Dan Minor. Stephen Cardullo led off the game by lining a ball off of the Arch Nemesis, but was thrown out by Justin Trapp trying to stretch a single into a double. Michael Russell followed with a one-out single and Tyler Ladendorf gave the Rockers a 2-0 lead by smashing a two-run home run over the Arch Nemesis in left. The lead did not last for long, however.

James Skelton led things off with a walk courtesy of Rockers starter Tyler Herron. Henry Castillo followed up the base on balls by blasting a two-run home run over the wall in left-center field to tie the game at 2-2. Telvin Nash drew a walk and came around to score on an RBI double to right-center from Carlos Franco to take the 3-2 lead.

After Minor fired a scoreless second, the Revs tacked on a run thanks to an RBI single from James Skelton to move the lead to 4-2.

High Point would get the run back in the top of the third inning on a solo home run to left from Quincy Latimore that cut the lead to 4-3.

The back-and-forth continued as York added a run in the bottom of the third on a Ryan Dent RBI single off the wall in left, driving the lead to 5-3.

High Point went on to tie things in the top of the fourth. Tyler Marincov singled and Giovanny Alfonzo reached on an error to set the table for the Rockers. Cardullo followed with an RBI double to left to plate a run and cut the lead to 5-4. Russell recorded a sacrifice fly to score Alfonzo and tie the game at 5-5.

After lefty Orleny Qiuroz came in to retire all three batters he faced in the top of the fifth, the Revs regained the lead at 6-5 on a long solo home run to left off the bat of Tejeda, his fifth in the last six games.

Julio Perez came in for the top of the sixth and worked around a leadoff double to retire the next three High Point batters in order while recording two strike outs.

York broke things wide open in the bottom of the sixth. DJ Jenkins led off the frame by working a walk off All-Star reliever Ashur Tolliver. Skelton followed with a double to put runners on second and third with no outs. Castillo drilled a sacrifice fly to center to score Jenkins and move the lead to 7-5. Nash followed with an RBI single to left to score Skelton and increase the lead to 8-5. Tejeda walked to keep the rally going. After Franco was retired on a deep fly ball, Dotel slapped an RBI single to right to score Nash and extend the lead to 9-5. Dent capped off the five-run bottom of the sixth by drilling an RBI double off the wall in right to score Tejeda and Dotel, pushing the lead to 11-5.

Rob Carson faced the minimum in the top of the seventh as he rebounded from allowing a leadoff infield single to induce a double play and a pop out.

Phil Walby ran into some trouble in the top of the eighth, as he allowed two runs while registering two outs. Josh Judy was called upon to escape the inning and threw just one pitch, as Skelton threw out Cardullo attempting to steal second to end the frame with the Revs lead at 11-7.

York added two more runs to their big lead on a long opposite-field two-run home run to right by Dotel to cap the scoring at 13-7.

All-Star closer Jameson McGrane came in to slam the door in the ninth, retiring the side in order while recording a strike out to give York a ninth straight series win.
