The York Revolution announced today elements of what it called its “Grand Reopening” on Opening Day, Friday April 26. The three-time Atlantic League Champions will start their 13th season with new hospitality spaces, a new field, and new promotional events. If that weren’t enough, the team will host its second Atlantic League All-Star Game when the league’s best come to play at PeoplesBank Park on July 10, 2019.
The team will tease the Grand Reopening during its 2019 Season Kickoff Event tomorrow, March 2, when individual game tickets will go on sale, All-Star Game tickets will be available, the team will unveil the All-Star Game jersey designs, and fans can take behind-the-scene tours of the construction of the skybox-level 1741 Club presented by UPMC and the Monarch and Solomon hospitality suites. The kickoff event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at PeoplesBank Park, and beginning tomorrow tickets will be available 24/7 at www.YorkRevolution.com.
The ‘Grand Reopening’ theme of the day also highlights the brand new playing field that will host its first official game on Opening Day. At the end of the 2018 season, the team began an extensive renovation of PeoplesBank Park’s 12-year-old playing surface that included replacement of much of the subsurface drainage system, deep-core aeration of the outfield, and removal and replacement of the infield sod. For the latter, the team turned to Hummer Turfgrass Systems of Manheim, PA, which has installed playing surfaces at the Philadelphia Eagles’ Lincoln Financial Field and Penn State’s Beaver Stadium, among many others.
On Opening Day, some lucky fans will be among the first to throw a baseball on the new field. To commemorate the Grand Reopening, the team will host a Grand First Pitch and invite pairs of fans to buy a special Opening Day package that includes a commemorative Revolution baseball they can throw out to each other in a giant synchronized pre-game first pitch.
Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. for the team’s 6:30 p.m. game against the Long Island Ducks, and the first 1,000 fans into PeoplesBank Park that day will receive a free Revolution T-Shirt courtesy of the Law Firm of Dale E. Anstine.
