REVS POUND ROAD WARRIORS

(June 19, 2018) -- The York Revolution stayed hot at the plate in a 9-3 win over the Road Warriors Tuesday night at PeoplesBank Park. The Revs are back over .500 at 24-23 having taken the opening two games of a seven-game homestand.

The Revs scored first in Tuesday's game when Jared Mitchell hit a sac fly to right field in the bottom of the first off Road Warriors starter Michael Lee. Another run scored on a wild pitch and the Revs added one more on Michael Burgess’ two-out RBI single up the middle, making it 3-0 Revs after the first.

Mitch Atkins started for the Revs and cruised early on, facing the minimum through the first three innings.

The Revs got Atkins more run support in the bottom of the third on Zach Wilson’s two-RBI double down the left field line, pushing the Revs’ advantage to 5-0. It was Wilson’s second double of the game.

Atkins took that five-run lead into the fifth, when the Road Warriors struck for two runs on Jorge Fernandez’ home run over the wall in right-center to make it a 5-2 game.

Atkins’ night was done after five and one-third innings, allowing just the two runs on four hits. He struck out seven and walked two.

The Revs got a run back when Burgess hit a solo homer to left-center in the sixth for his team-leading seventh of the season. Burgess hit the ball to the wall and Road Warriors center fielder Anthony Ray jumped to rob it and had the ball in his glove, but crashed into the wall and the ball went over. Ray went down immediately, but was eventually helped up and walked off the field under his own power.

Up 6-3 in the eighth, Jose Cuevas blasted a three-run homer to left-center to put the game away at 9-3.

Atkins (3-3) earned the win for the third time in as many starts and has pitched at least into the sixth in each of his last five outings.

Lee (0-2) took the loss for the Road Warriors, allowing five runs on seven hits in five innings.

Notes: The Revs have hit six home runs through two games this series. Four players had a multi-hit game and three had a multi-RBI game. Two of Alexi Casilla’s three hits were infield hits, giving him 18 infield hits on the season.

Up Next: LHP Pat McCoy (0-2, 4.11) will start for the Revs in Wednesday's game at 6:30 p.m. against Road Warriors LHP Brandon Bargas (0-3, 8.13). It is Pride Night featuring a Rainbow Jersey Auction presented by Starbucks York Roasting Plant to benefit LGBT Center of Central PA. Tickets are on sale at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Revs Ticket Office.
