REVS ROUT DUCKS IN RETURN

(June 7, 2018) -- It was all Revs from the start as the York Revolution cruised to a 9-2 win over the Long Island Ducks behind Mitch Atkins’ first win of the season on Thursday night at PeoplesBank Park. The Revs have now won three straight games and move to four games over .500 at 19-15.

The Revs scored first and pushed across three runs in the first inning. After Jared Mitchell and Alexi Casilla reached base to start the inning, Welington Dotel plated Mitchell with an RBI double to dead center field off Ducks starter Andrew Barbosa. Zach Wilson followed with an RBI groundout and Rubi Silva added a sac fly to make it 3-0 Revs.

Barbosa left the game with shoulder tightness after just one inning.

With the Ducks forced to go to their bullpen early, the Revs kept adding on. They got another run in the second on Mitchell’s bases-loaded sac fly to left, extending the Revs’ lead to 4-0.

Revs starter Mitch Atkins was locked in early and retired the first eight batters he faced. Through the early innings, he allowed only a two-out run in the third on a Tyler Clark passed ball to bring the Ducks one run closer.

Atkins got more run support in the fourth when the Revs scored two more. Dotel drove in a run with a sac fly and Wilson brought home the second with a single to left field past the drawn-in Ducks infield, making it a 6-1 Revs lead.

After the Ducks scored another run in the top of the sixth on a wild pitch to make it a 6-2 game, Tyler Clark responded for the Revs by launching a solo homer over the Arch Nemesis in left for his second homer of the season.

Two more runs came in to score for the Revs in the seventh to put the game out of reach at 9-2 as Ryan Dent picked up an RBI on a fielder's choice and a second run scored on Emilio Bonifacio's errant double play turn attempt from short.

Atkins (1-3) went 5.2 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) with six strikeouts, and picked up his first win of the season.

Barbosa (1-1) took the loss for the Ducks.

The Revs and Ducks continue their four-game series Friday at 6:30 p.m. York righty Dominic Severino (2-2, 3.68) faces Long Island right-hander Jair Jurrjens (2-2, 4.00). The night includes a Hat Auction presented by the York Revolution Fan Club. Tickets are on sale at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Revs Ticket Office.

Notes: Jared Mitchell extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a single in the fourth inning. Alexi Casilla scored three runs; he’s the third Rev to do that in a game this season and second in as many nights after Mitchell did it Wednesday night at New Britain. Six different Revs starters had at least one RBI and three of the nine runs were driven in via a sac fly.
