REVS TRIPPED UP BY BEES

(August 15, 2018) -- The York Revolution’s late-inning comeback bid fell just short as they lost 4-3 to the New Britain Bees on Wednesday night at PeoplesBank Park. The Revs will go for the series win in the rubber match on Thursday evening.

After Revs starter Robert Carson and Bees starter Mark Hamburger traded scoreless frames through the first three innings, the Bees got on the board in the top of the fourth.

Darren Ford and Jamar Walton each hit singles to start the inning and two batters later, Jason Rogers brought home Ford with an infield single. Matt Tuiasosopo followed with a two-RBI single up the middle, scoring Walton and Rogers to give the Bees a 3-0 lead.

The Revs came right back in the bottom of the third on Welington Dotel’s RBI single to right-center. Michael Burgess added a sac fly to center to bring York within 3-2.

Tuiasosopo gave the Bees another run on a line-drive solo homer to left-center with two outs and two strikes in the sixth, making it a 4-2 game.

The Revs could only push across two runs against Hamburger (8-8), who finished his night after six innings allowing five hits with five strikeouts and three walks.

Carson (7-6) worked seven innings for the Revs allowing four runs on ten hits. He struck out four batters, walked only one and started two 1-6-3 double plays.

The Revs pulled within one run again in the eighth when Burgess hit another sac fly to center to make it a 4-3 game. The sac fly came off Bees reliever Adam Loewen but the run was charged to Brandon Cunniff who started the inning on the mound.

That was as close as the Revs would get as Bees closer Evan Scribner retired the side in order in the ninth to preserve the win and earn his 19th save of the season.

Up Next: The Revs and Bees will play the rubber match of their three-game series Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The Revs have not announced their starter yet, while the Bees will send RHP Devin Burke (2-0, 4.05) to the mound. It is National Night Out presented by UPMC for You and features a Youth Hat Giveaway presented by CHIP to the first 1,000 kids. Tickets are on sale at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Revs Ticket Office.
