SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Gary SouthShore RailCats (13-14) fell to the Sioux Falls Canaries (10-15) by a score of 4-3 in 10 innings. The RailCats have now lost the first three games of the four-game series and have dropped a season-high four consecutive games.

Burt Reynolds drew a walk to begin the bottom of the 10th before Aaron Gretz delivered the walk-off double to the left-center wall. The win for Sioux Falls was their fourth in a row, a season-best for the Canaries.

For the fourth straight game, the RailCats scored the first runs of the ballgame, and they did so early. In the top half of the first, Gary got on the board with a Colin Willis RBI single scoring Andy DeJesus. DeJesus reached base with a one-out triple. Willis then scored on a two-out RBI double by Frank Martinez to make the score 2-0.

Sioux Falls cut the deficit in the bottom of the second when Dan Motl drove in Patrick Fiala. Fiala reached second on an error from DeJesus, and advanced to third on B.J. Guinn’s flyout.

The score stayed the same until the bottom half of the fifth, when Reynolds drove in Michael Falsetti with a single. Falsetti singled and advanced to second before scoring on Reynolds hit to tie the game at 2-2.

In the seventh, the RailCats regained the lead when Chase Harris knocked in Ryan Fitzgerald with an RBI single. Fitzgerald led off the seventh with a double and stole third before Harris’ one-out hit gave Gary a 3-2 lead.

In the bottom half of the seventh, the Canaries tied the game on a Reynold’s bases-loaded walk with one out. RailCats reliever Ryan Frtize entered the game and induced an inning-ending double play from Gretz.

Alex Crosby was among the leading RailCats offensively, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a walk. Crosby’s two hits also extended his season-high on-base streak to 14 games.

Carlos Diaz recorded a no-decision after throwing five innings and only giving up one earned run (two total) on three hits, two walks, while striking out six. Jorge DeLeon (2-1) suffered the defeat as he did not record an out in the tenth.

Sioux Falls’ starter Miles Nordgren gave up three earned runs in 6.1 innings and received a no decision. Nordgren surrendered six hits, walked one, and struck out one on the evening. Josh Ferrell (2-3) earned the victory after pitching a scoreless tenth.
