GARY, Ind. The Gary SouthShore RailCats announced the signing of pitchers Jack Fowler and Carlos Pinales on Thursday afternoon and have placed pitchers Ottavio Dattolo and Laetten Galbraith on waivers.

Fowler rejoins Gary after going 0-1 with one hold a 6.75 ERA in four games back in May. The southpaw struck two in 2.1 scoreless innings of relief on May 18 vs. St. Paul in his American Association debut. Pinales returns to the RailCats in 2017 after finishing the 2016 season 0-3 with a 9.48 ERA in five games (two starts) for Gary. Prior to signing with Gary, Pinales pitched for the Vallejo Admirals of the Pacific Association, finishing 1-1 with a save and a 2.11 ERA in nine games. Pinales signed with the Boston Red Sox in 2010 at the age of 18 out of Payo, DOR. The right-hander pitched in Boston’s minor league system for four seasons, reaching as high as Greensboro (Lo-A). Pinales’s best season came in 2014 with Lowell (Class-A Short Season) when the right-hander earned Mid-Season All-Star honors after  tying for the league lead with 15 saves in 25 appearances.

Galbraith went 0-0 with a 3.38 ERA and one hold in nine relief outings for the RailCats. The right-hander tossed two scoreless innings of relief in his American Association debut on May 21 at St. Paul.

Dattolo signed with Gary on Wednesday, June 7 and did not appear in a game. Dattolo recently finished his senior season at Butler University with a perfect 4-0 record and 1.55 ERA in 29 innings pitched. Dattolo held opponents to a .223 batting average and finished second on the team with four saves this season. Dattolo struck out nine batters in 10.1 innings as a junior for the Bulldogs in 2016. Prior to attending Butler, Dattolo spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons at Elgin Community College in Elgin, Ill.
