GARY, Ind. — Jaime Del Valle’s walk-off single gave the Gary SouthShore RailCats (10-9) the 4-3 victory over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (13-6) on Tuesday. The RailCats overcame a two-run deficit for their first walk-off win of the season.

Gary ended a season-high-tying 17-inning scoreless drought with a run in the fourth for their first run of the series. Reggie Wilson led off the inning with a single to center, however an error by Kes Carter allowed Wilson to advance to second. After a wild pitch moved Wilson up 90-feet, Anthony Cheky Jr. delivered an RBI bloop double down the right field line, bringing home Wilson for the first run of the game.

Fargo-Moorhead would wait until the sixth inning to score its first runs of the game for the second straight night. Brett Wiley and Josh Mazzola began the inning with back-to-back walks. Ryan Pineda would hit an RBI single scoring Wiley. Mitch Delfino would walk to load the bases before Kes Carter hit a two-run RBI single scoring Mazzola and Pineda to give the RedHawks a 3-1 lead.

The score would stay the same until the bottom of the ninth. Frank Martinez led off the inning with a single, Alex Crosby would follow with a walk. Colin Willis would strike out swinging for the first out of the inning. DeJesus then hit a double into the left-center field gap to score both Crosby and Martinez. Ryan Fitzgerald would follow with a walk before Del Valle ended the game with the game winning hit.

RailCats starter Tyler Harris suffered an arm injury and left the ballgame two batters into the top of the first inning. Carlos Diaz came into the game and pitched four shutout innings, while striking out six.

Ryan Fritze pitched a perfect fifth inning before surrendering three runs on one hit, while walking three in the sixth before being pulled with one out in the inning.

Carlos Misell made his RailCat debut in relief. He pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, surrendering only one hit, while striking out three.

Jorge DeLeon (1-0) added two shutout innings in relief for the RailCats to record the victory.

The RedHawks’ Michael O’Neal pitched eight solid innings for the RedHawks. He surrendered only an earned run on five hits, struck out four, while walking none. Casey Weathers (1-1) surrendered three runs in the ninth inning, suffering the loss and the blown save.

The RailCats resume their seven-game homestand and four-game series against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks on Wednesday at 7:10 p.m. Southpaw Braulio Torres-Perez (1-0, 6.27) makes his first home start of the yera against RedHawks right-hander Dylan Mouzakes (2-1, 4.29).
