GARY, Ind. — The Gary SouthShore RailCats traded right-handed pitcher Chuck Weaver to the Florence Freedom of the Frontier League for future considerations on Wednesday. Weaver was 0-1 with a 4.97 ERA in three starts with Gary and allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out a season-high seven in 5+ innings on Tuesday night vs. the Chicago Dogs.

Prior to pitching for Gary, Weaver was a Frontier League All-Star with Florence in 2014 and pitched in the Miami Marlins minor league system in parts of two seasons, reaching Lo-A. A native of New Haven, Ind., Weaver pitched at Indiana—Purdue University—Fort Wayne University (IPFW) in college.

The RailCats and Dogs were postponed on Wednesday due to inclement weather and widespread heavy rain. The two teams will play a doubleheader (two seven-inning games) on Thursday evening.

Game one of Thursday’s doubleheader is at 5 p.m. and game two will follow approximately 30 minutes after the completion of game one. Neither team has announced their starters for either game of tomorrow’s doubleheader.

Thursday’s game is the first Beer and Dog Thursday, presented by Miller Lite and GFS, a Gerber Collision and Glass Thursday, and a Munster & Dyer Community Night, presented by Fifth Third Bank. Beer and Dog Thursday features $2.50 hot dogs, $1.50 domestic drafts and $3 select premium drafts.

Office Wednesday punch card holders can use Wednesday’s punch for any 2018 home game and festivities for "Office Wednesdays - Office Olympics" will occur during Game two of tomorrow's doubleheader.
