RAILCATS ANNOUNCE FULL SCHEDULE AND OPENING DAY FOR 2018 SEASON

GARY, IN – Don’t miss your chance to be part of all the family friendly fun at the Steel Yard as the three-time champion Gary SouthShore RailCats release their 2018 schedule for their 17^th season on the South Shore!  

Opening Day for the ‘Cats will be Friday, May 18^th, beginning a three-game series with the St. Paul Saints. Opening Day will be the first of 10 explosive fireworks shows, courtesy of Fifth Third Bank, including a special doubleheader and Fireworks Super Show on July 4^th! The RailCats are adding a Fireworks Super Show on September 2^nd.

“Schedule release day is a date that we start talking about with eager anticipation in late September!” said RailCats General Manager Brian Lyter. “With the schedule release we kick our 2018 planning into high gear to continue providing cutting edge promotions, and fun, family entertainment at an affordable price.”

The RailCats will host two special Youth & Senior Day games on Wednesday, June 20^th and Tuesday, July 10^th at 12:10pm.

“Skip [Greg Tagert] is hard at work putting together our 2018 roster.” said Lyter “Clinching the playoffs on the final day of the regular season after back-to-back walk off wins gives us a great foundation for the upcoming season!”

The RailCats will welcome a new Chicagoland rival to the Steel Yard from May 28^th – May 31^st, June 17^th – 28^th, and July 4^th . The Chicago Dogs became the American Association’s 12^th team on May 15^th. 

“[The Chicago Dogs] will be a tremendous addition to our league,” American Association Commissioner Miles Wolff commented in a press release. “We’re excited to have another league member in the Chicagoland area, and look forward to bringing the American Association’s exciting brand of baseball to Rosemont.”

The RailCats will host two special pre-season “School Day Games” for area students on Tuesday, May 8^th at 11:10am and Monday, May 14^th at 11:10am.
