KANSAS CITY, KAN. – Three solo home runs and six innings of one-run ball from Daniel Minor paced the Gary SouthShore RailCats to a 3-1 win over the Kansas City T-Bones in the rubber game of the series on Sunday afternoon. Sunday’s win also puts Gary back in front of Kansas City by 0.5 games for first place in the Wild Card.

Ryan Fitzgerald gave Gary (48-37) the opening lead with a two-out solo home run to right-center in the second inning. The home run was the RailCats’ fifth of this three-game series and Fitzgerald’s team-high-tying seventh of the season.

Kris Goodman increased the Gary lead to two with a home run to begin the series. The home run was Goodman’s second of the series and his fourth of the year. Chase Harris then homered for the third time in his last four games to begin the top of the fifth, extending the RaiCats’ lead to 3-0.

Jordan Edgerton ended the shutout with a one-out solo home run in the bottom of the fifth, cutting the Gary lead to 3-1. The home run was Edgerton’s seventh of the season and his 30th RBI.

Minor (1-0) recorded his first win of the season in just his third start with the RailCats. Minor retired 15 of the first 18 he faced and yielded three hits, a walk and struck out five. Sam Myers (1) earned his first professional hold with two scoreless innings out of the bullpen while Drasen Johnson (11) secured the win with the save in the bottom of the ninth.

Gabe Perez (7-6) was charged with the loss for Kansas City (47-39). The right-hander allowed three runs on four hits (three home runs), two walks and five strikeouts over five innings.

Gary continues their seven game road trip with a four-game series against the Lincoln Saltdogs starting on Monday afternoon at noon from Haymarket Park.
