FARGO, N.D. –  A four-run lead through 3 & 1/2, three shutout innings from Daniel Minor in his RailCats debut and three unearned runs led Gary to a 4-2 win over Fargo-Moorhead on Friday night at Newman Outdoor Field. The RailCats are now 8-3 on the season vs. the RedHawks and have now won back-to-back games for the first time in August.

After taking the opening lead just once during their most recent seven-game homestand, Gary (42-35) struck first in the top of the first to take a 1-0 advantage. Colin Willis drew a walk to begin the game before Kris Goodman moved him up to second with a sacrifice bunt. Cameron Newell then pulled a single through the right side of the infield, giving the RailCats runners on the corners. Randy Santiesteban followed Newell with a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Willis for the first run of the series.

Gary increased their lead to four with three unearned runs in the top of the fourth. Andy De Jesus hit a comebacker right back to Will Solomon for what looked to be the final out of the inning, however, his throw pulled Trever Adams off first, allowing Frank Martinez to score the first of three unearned runs in the frame. Chase Harris followed De Jesus with an RBI infield single to make it 3-0 before Harris intentionally got in a rundown at first, allowing De Jesus to score from third for the final run of the frame.

Fargo-Moorhead (41-34) got on the board with a two-out run in the bottom of the fourth. Chris Grayson drew a two-out walk before Josh Mazzola advanced Grayson to third with a long single to left-center. Adams then brought home Grayson with an RBI single through the left side of the infield, cutting the Gary lead to 4-1.

The RedHawks trimmed the Gary lead to 4-2 with another run in the bottom of the sixth. Grayson reached on a hustle-double to begin the frame before Mazzola drew a walk. Adams followed with his second RBI single of the night, bringing home Grayson from third.

Andy Roberts (1-1) earned his first win of the season after allowing two runs in 2.1 innings of relief. Carlos Pinales (2) recorded a hold with 1.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen while Jorge De Leon (7) struck out a pair in the six-out save.

Minor faced the minimum in his first start of the season. The recently acquired right-hander yielded just one hit, walked none and struck out a pair.

Solomon (4-4) was charged with thee loss in his second appearance of the year vs. Gary. The southpaw allowed four runs (one earned) on five hits, two walks and struck out three.
