GARY, Ind. – The Gary SouthShore RailCats and Winnipeg Goldeyes were suspended in the bottom of the fourth inning with one out and Cameron Newell on first base due to rain in Thursday’s series opener. The RailCats currently trail the Goldeyes, 2-0, and will complete Thursday’s suspended game on Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. The two teams will then play a seven-inning contest approximately 30 minutes after the completion of the suspended game.

Winnipeg took the opening lead of the series with a pair of two-out runs in the top of the first. Former RailCat Josh Romanski started the inning with a two-out walk before Reggie Abercrombie advanced Romanski to third with a single to center, however, Abercrombie was able to move up to second on the throw to third. Shawn Pleffner made it 2-0 in favor of the reigning champions with a two-run single to center, plating both Romanski and Abercrombie.

Friday’s game is Touch a Truck, a Scout Night Campout and another Fifth Third Bank Fireworks Friday. We’ll have some heavy equipment, fire trucks and ambulances you can interact with on the concourse during the game and don’t forget to call the RailCats to reserve your spot to sleep on the outfield, make s’mores, watch a move and have breakfast at the stadium for Scout Night!
