Executive Director

Dr. Darryl W Crain

Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, but raised in San Antonio, TX. Attended and graduated from a small Christian School and was the school’s first graduate to revive an athletic scholarship (Basketball).
Attended school in Louisiana and graduated from Central Missouri.  Post Graduate degrees received from Louisiana Baptist University.

Darryl W. Crain was on staff in 1991 when TCAL was founded with 18 schools.  He worked as Secretary and Treasurer until 1995 when he was elected Vice-President.  In 1997 he was elected President and then in 1999 elected as Executive Director having grown the organization to 106 schools around the state.

In 2000, Dr. Crain was asked by a denominational leader to assist in planting a church on the Northwest side of San Antonio.  This church became a national leader in growth, conversions, and baptisms and Dr. Crain was asked to speak in various churches and conferences around the state.
In 2008, the leadership of TCAL asked Dr. Crain to resume leadership as Executive Director of the organization due to a severe reduction in membership and participation (only 8 schools remained in TCAL).  The 2016-2017 school year will begin with over 120 High Schools and nearly 20 middle schools through the state.

As TCAL has grown so has the involvement of many qualified individuals who have raised the level of professionalism and infrastructure to all-time highs!  Dr. Crain believes this involvement has been a major factor in our continued growth and improvement.
Dr. Crain has been married nearly 21 years, has six wonderful children and lives in Helotes, a suburb of San Antonio, Texas.  Dr. Crain enjoys golf, still plays basketball and is an avid mountain biker.
