Chip Maxson

General Manager
Sacramento River Cats

Originally from the Midwest, Chip played baseball at Olivet Nazarene University and quickly realized that MLB was not going to be a reality but a career in baseball certainly could be.

Chip continued his education, earning an MSE in Sports Management from Baylor University and landing internships with the Kane County Cougars and Memphis Redbirds. From Memphis, Chip joined Mandalay Baseball Properties and began his career in sales and management with the Frisco RoughRiders.

In 2008, Chip moved to Tacoma, WA, to help turn around the Tacoma Rainiers. As Vice President of Ticket Sales, Maxson increased ticket revenue by more than 150% in his first four seasons by selling out the contract suites, premium and club areas. Chip was also instrumental in the $30M renovation of Cheney Stadium which won Ballpark Digest's 2011 Renovation of the Year award.

Now as the General Manager of the Sacramento River Cats, Maxson oversees the business operations. The River Cats are consistently one of MiLBs top teams in attendance and Forbes ranks them as the most valuable franchise in MiLB. While in Sacramento, Chip has focused on creating a positive sales culture, developing new premium and social spaces, upgrading digital and video components, and emphasizing a strong community involvement.
